Nanny House Manager: Middleton, WI (Lake Mendota)

A kind, welcoming family living on beautiful Lake Mendota is seeking an experienced Nanny House Manager to partner with them in caring for their toddler and supporting the day-to-day flow of their home.

Both parents have demanding careers as physicians and deeply value their downtime together as a family. They enjoy staying active, swimming, going for walks, reading, traveling, and discovering new supper clubs. They value a nanny who understands the pace and flexibility required in physician life and can be a steady, supportive presence in their home.

The toddler is sweet, curious, and full of joyful little-boy energy. He loves trains, cars, books, going on walks, and exploring new parks. A big hugger who freely shows affection, he thrives with a warm, emotionally attuned caregiver who can meet his sensitive, loving nature. He attends preschool during the day and genuinely enjoys learning and exploring new things!

Position Overview

This role beautifully blends nannying and household management and is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety, and being a true partner to parents. The family guarantees 30 hours per week, with additional hours available based on on-call needs. Schedules are planned ~3 months in advance, though flexibility is essential.

Typical Schedule Highlights:

  • M,W, Th, Fr: afternoon/evening coverage (generally 4:30–8:30 p.m.) Starting with preschool pick-up.

  • Tuesday overnight care (pickup through Wednesday morning drop-off)

  • Occasional weekend coverage (about every other month, Friday night–Monday morning)

  • Additional hours when one or both parents are on call

The NHM can set their own daily house management schedule - for example, completing grocery shopping on Mondays and tackling household tasks in one day, or spreading them over 2–3 days. The family is flexible, but once a schedule is established, it should remain consistent to ensure continuity for both the NHM and the household.

Ideal Candidate

The family is looking for someone who is:

  • Engaging, creative, energetic, and positive

  • Calm, kind, confident, and emotionally intuitive

  • Reliable, mature, and responsible

  • A strong communicator who can take constructive feedback with ease

  • Comfortable with autonomy and not in need of micromanagement

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules

  • A true go-getter who actively plans fun, educational activities and local outings for their toddler

  • Confident in the water and able to swim with a toddler (lakefront home)

  • Comfortable supporting transitions when parents are home

They value a nanny who follows the parents’ lead, brings ideas to the table, and helps make a busy household run smoothly.

Household Manager Responsibilities

  • Light daily tidying (dishes, counters, toys, vacuuming, laundry)

  • Meal prep and cooking. This can be as simple as preparing Pasture + Plenty meal kits, or the Nanny House Manager can plan and execute their own favorite recipes (at minimum planning and prepping 1–2 weekend meals).

  • Grocery shopping and keeping pantry/fridge clean + organized

  • Stocking household and child essentials and keeping a running tab of items running low and replacing them as needed

  • Errands (dry cleaning, returns, pick-ups)

  • Organizational projects (closets, mudroom, seasonal swaps)

  • Anticipating household needs and taking initiative

A professional cleaning service comes biweekly for deep cleaning. No deep cleaning required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $30–32/hour, plus overnight rate

  • Overnights: $100 per night (Tuesdays)

  • Guaranteed 30 hours/week, with the NHM creating their own consistent HM schedule

  • Mileage reimbursement when using personal vehicle

  • Health insurance stipend (based on nanny’s needs)

  • 10 days PTO + 5 sick days

  • Additional PTO when family travels and care is not needed

  • Holiday Pay: Paid standard holidays that align with parent's hospital schedules. **If the nanny is required to work on a holiday, they will be paid time and a half, and one additional PTO day will be added for future use.

  • Continuing education support

  •  Harbor Athletic Club membership
